Kitāb al-Qānūn fī al-ṭibb (The Canon of Medicine)
13th century
The Qānūn of Ibn Sīnā (Avicenna) represents the high point in the codification of Arabic medicine. One of five books, book I starts with a definition of medicine and then deals in a general fashion with the human body, sickness, health and therapeutics.
