The Red Book of Hergest is one of the most important medieval manuscripts written in Middle Welsh. It preserves a collection of Welsh prose and poetry, notably the tales of the Mabinogion and Gogynfeirdd poetry.

ff. 236vv–237r contain physical receipts for different diseases, by Rhiwallon and his three sons, Kadwgan, Gruffudd and Einion, the most skilful physicians of their time. At the end is a table of herbs, their virtues, properties, etc. in Latin, as seen in f. 237r below:
