The featured image contains the beginning of John of Gaddesden's Rosa Medicinae (also called Rosa Anglica, 'The English Rose') on fol. 1r, considered to be the first English textbook of medicine. A physician and theologian, John of Gaddesden was a fellow at Merton College.
